Julyana sugar plant moves into implementation
Libya – Mohamed Ben Atiya, director of the Julyana sugar project, announced the signing of a contract to build the plant with the German company BMA, which he described as among the world’s leading sugar manufacturers, paving the way for a modern industrial facility to international standards.
Output capacity and timeline
Ben Atiya said work was under way to build an integrated plant in the Julyana area with a capacity of 2,500 tonnes a day, under an implementation programme of no more than 24 months.
Local markets and jobs
He said the project aims to supply competitive national sugar for local market needs, with later ambitions for regional and international markets, supporting the national economy, creating jobs and developing Libya’s food industries.
