UN Mission Discusses Broad National Consensus on Political Process With Mukhtar

Khoury and Mukhtar Discuss Mini-Meeting Agreement and Stress Need to Advance Towards Elections

LIBYA – Stephanie Khoury, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Political Affairs, met Naji Mukhtar, first deputy head of the High Council of State, as part of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya’s efforts to promote broad national consensus on the UN-facilitated political process.

Developments and Mini-Meeting Agreement Discussed

According to the mission’s media office, the two sides discussed current economic, security and political developments, including the mini-meeting agreement.

Both stressed that tangible progress was essential to advance the political roadmap and create the conditions for elections.

Commitment to Continued Cooperation

Khoury and Mukhtar renewed their commitment to continued cooperation in support of a UN-facilitated political solution and to ending Libyas ongoing political crisis.
