Tetteh discusses stability and elections with two Asian ambassadors
LIBYA – The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya, Hannah Tetteh, held separate meetings with India’s Ambassador to Libya, Hafizur Rahman, and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Libya, Mohammad Habibullah, on political developments and efforts to achieve stability and hold elections.
Talks with the Indian ambassador
Tetteh discussed with the Indian ambassador the political, security and economic situation in Libya, including the UN-facilitated political process and the agreement reached at the mini-meeting.
The meeting underlined the importance of inclusive dialogue and confidence-building among the parties concerned, and of creating conditions conducive to national elections and sustainable stability.
Separate meeting with the Bangladeshi ambassador
In a separate meeting, Tetteh congratulated the Bangladeshi ambassador on the election of Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Khalilur Rahman, and on his assuming the presidency of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
The two sides discussed political developments in Libya, including the roadmap facilitated by the UN mission, as well as issues related to irregular migration in the country.
The ambassador welcomed the recent efforts that led to the signing of the mini-meeting agreement and expressed his and his country’s support for UN efforts to strengthen political stability in Libya.
